Morning and night frost in Oulu. We’ve had snow since October and it’s been -10 for the last three days 🥶🥶🥶 It’s a pretty walk to and from school though. #finland #oulu #winter #talvi #winterhascome

Our first breakfast in Helsinki was hard won. The first two cafes we went to were either shut down or moved. I guess off season Helsinki means construction and renovations. Afterwards we walked past the Helsinki Art Museum and then went to the Church in the rock, Temppeliaukio Church. It’s built into a rock face with a beautiful copper ceiling that seems to get deeper the longer you look at it. #helsinki #finland #fallbreak #temppeliaukionkirkko

Commence fall break! We took the train to Helsinki. It was a 5 hour ride but pretty cheap. I love public transportation.

Class trip to Koiteli. 30 minutes outside of Oulu with a lot of walking trails and beautiful nature. #autumn #finland #oulu #koiteli #nature

Hiking around Oulu. Look at all the different kinds of 🍄. There are 60 kinds of mushrooms in Finland and you can go mushroom picking! I wish I knew which ones were safe to eat. #Finland #oulu #hiking #nature #mushrooms

I love coffee and pulla. It’s such a nice way to start the year and meeting new people. It was nice to meet more professors and Ph.D students whom we might help with research projects if our thesis topic interests are similar. #kahvijapulla #firstmeetings #newschoolyear
